Summary

Art in Tanzania is a self-sustaining non-profit charity NGO. We have been engaged in community-based development work and running self-sustainable operations since 1996.

Details

Art in Tanzania has been active since 1996. Our community placements attract approximately 250 participants each year. Our vision is to provide students with hands-on experience in developing African communities. In addition to your studies, you will have an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience African culture and life, along with its fantastic nature and wildlife.

Our community programs prioritize empowering local communities and assisting individuals living in poverty.

You can observe Tanzania's daily life and culture while witnessing the growth of one of Africa's fastest-growing economies.

Students will engage in and help manage the NGO's daily operations. Simultaneously, you gain valuable experience in running an NGO in developing Africa.

You help manage the daily activities of volunteers and interns across multiple programs. In addition, you create weekly plans and reports, handle budgets and accounts, develop ongoing community programs, and strategize new approaches.

The internship aims to teach how to use and gain experience implementing education in developing countries with limited capacity. Most importantly, it aims to develop work skills for an African NGO.

Academic-level team leaders oversee your daily work. We also track your progress using a weekly planning and reporting system to ensure your success in your placement work.

Additionally, interns collaborate in teams with international students and volunteers to better understand the opportunities in a fast-growing economy.

Work hours range from 6 to 8 hours daily, Monday to Friday.

The program is ongoing, so the start dates are flexible. Your placement is customized according to your background, experience, and interests to enhance your daily work with the communities.

Daily tasks include practical fieldwork, planning, reporting, and visibility efforts.

The start and end dates are flexible since all programs are ongoing, many of which have been running since 1996.

You and your visiting friends can enjoy affordable, eco-friendly safaris and tours.

We typically have 15 to 40 students from various parts of the world, representing over 400 universities with which we collaborate and a diversity of professions.

The benefits and perks are as follows:

Accommodation and meals are personal expenses. For 1 to 13 weeks, EUR 175 per week covers accommodation with breakfast and dinner, access to the student compound facilities, and professional tutoring. From week 14 onwards, the cost is EUR 125 per week.

The airport transfer costs EUR 60 one way and is considered a personal expense.

A charity immigration visa costs USD 50 and is considered a personal expense. A multiple-entry visa valid for less than 12 months costs USD 250.

We offer interns a monthly stipend of USD 50, which, while modest, is double Tanzania's national minimum wage.

Flights are considered a personal expense.

Local transportation, if any, is a personal expense.
