SeAMK participates in BAIT-HEI Project to Advance AI Integration in Higher Education
Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences is part of the “Brilliant Artificial Intelligence Toolkit – Higher Education Instructors” (BAIT-HEI) project, which is funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ program. This three-year project aims to transform teaching methods and practices in higher education through new artificial intelligence tools and techniques. The project seeks to ensure that higher education institutions remain adaptive and innovative by providing academic staff with practical AI tools.
The project brings together nine organizations from nine different EU countries:
- ŠKODA AUTO Vysoká Škola OPS (Czech Republic)
- Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences (Finland)
- Institut de Haute Formation aux Politiques Communautaires (Belgium)
- Internet Web Solutions SL (Spain)
- IDP (Italy)
- SOC Blended Learning Limited (Ireland)
- Sveučilište u Dubrovniku (Croatia)
- Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Dresden (Germany)
- Univerzita Komenského v Bratislave (Slovakia)
BAIT-HEI aims to empower higher education instructors across Europe to use AI in a purposeful, responsible, and effective way in three key areas:
- Curriculum Development: Utilizing AI to design course structures, learning outcomes, and module durations.
- Teaching Methods: Enhancing classroom engagement and designing a variety of tasks, including individual, group, and research assignments.
- Assessment: Using AI tools to create tests, exams, and assessment mechanisms tailored to learning outcomes.
As AI becomes increasingly embedded in higher education ecosystems – by students, researchers, and teachers – BAIT-HEI seeks to address challenges and open opportunities by offering cutting-edge training and functional resources.
The overall goal of the BAIT-HEI project is to harness the potential of AI to modernize pedagogical approaches and practices in higher education.
The project’s specific objectives include:
- Supporting modernization with advanced AI-based tools.
- Strengthening teachers’ skills in developing adaptive curricula and up-to-date assessments.
- Empowering educators with training packages that leverage AI for creating effective learning materials and assessing student performance.
The project aims to significantly benefit higher education by supporting the strategic modernization of teaching practices. Its insights could lead to the development of more attractive teaching methods, adaptive assessments, and effective curricula. AI applications may also extend to improving workforce training programs and adaptive learning solutions.
At the meeting held in Brussels, participants had the opportunity to introduce themselves, and the first part of the meeting was dedicated to presenting the organizations and institutions that will collaborate on the project. The participants analyzed the details of the project plan and defined the roles and responsibilities for implementing the project’s activities. After reviewing all the goals and expected results, the participants established the project’s visual identity by choosing a logo and the website address baithei.eu, which will soon be online.
