SeAMK and German University of Applied Sciences FH Münster Agree on New Double Degree Opportunity
Long-time partners, Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences (SeAMK) and the German University of Applied Sciences FH Münster, signed an agreement on Wednesday for a new international double degree programme in the field of technology. In double degree programmes, part of the studies will be completed at the home university and part at the foreign partner university. The aim is also to complete an internship or part of it in the host country. Upon graduation, the student will receive a diploma from both universities.
The collaboration between SeAMK and FH Münster expands SeAMK’s double degree offerings to 16. SeAMK has double degree agreements with universities in the Netherlands, Bulgaria, Spain, Lithuania, Germany, and the Czech Republic. Currently, double degree opportunities are available for students in international business, business administration, automation engineering and computer science.
The new double degree will be in the field of technology between SeAMK’s automation engineering programme and FH Münster’s electrical engineering programme. Dean, Professor Reinhart Job from FH Münster says that the collaboration initiated during a study visit two years ago.
“With Jyri (Head of Programme Jyri Lehto at SeAMK) we had very good discussions on the subject and continued them on Zoom. However, remote meetings have their limitations, and we thought it would be best to show up. Our meeting last fall was very successful – good and efficient collaboration with Jyri. In fact, we completed the curriculum in nine hours,” Professor Reinhart Job explains.
Jyri Lehto appreciates Professor Reinhart Job, Coordinator International Engineering Lisa Feldkamp and the rest of the FH Münster staff for their initiative and exceptionally smooth cooperation.
“They deserve great thanks. Things progressed quickly already at the first meeting thanks to their preliminary work, and they have provided plenty of support to ensure the success of this collaboration. Our programmes fit well together, and both have a strong desire to expand cooperation in the future,” Jyri Lehto says.
Located in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, with campuses in Münster and Steinfurt, FH Münster is one of the largest universities of applied sciences in Germany with about 15,000 students. The university has approximately 1,400 staff members. Prospective students can choose from more than 100 Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs in twelve Departments and one Central scientific unit. FH Münster offers a spectrum of subjects ranging from engineering and economics to social sciences and design.
