New Faculty Dean Marjo Joshi

SeAMKin uusi osaamisalajohtaja aloittaa tehtävässä syyskuussa. / Marjo Joshi starts as a new Faculty Dean at SeAMK.

Dr Marjo Joshi, Doctor of Philosophy (Educational Sciences, mediapedagogy), has been appointed as a new Faculty Dean, Welfare and Culture. She will succeed Dr. Päivi Rinne, who is retiring. Dr. Marjo Joshi will start in the position on 1 September 2024 and will be responsible for the bachelor degree programmes in the fields of Culture as well as Health Care and Social Work, joint teaching support services, continuous learning and continuing education.

– I am excited about my new role as the Faculty Dean at Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences. Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences has a good reputation as a student-centred regional university, and it is great to be able to promote the opportunities offered by internationalisation and digitalisation and to support the development of students’ skills in their diverse higher education pathways. The position offers a versatile perspective on the UAS scene, and I look forward to working with the university and the regional stakeholders, says Marjo Joshi.

Currently Dr. Joshi is working at Turku University of Applied Sciences. She has been involved in a number of national processes, including leading Arene’s work to ensure the quality of joint study offering by the universities of applied sciences.

– Dr Joshi has a comprehensive knowledge of teaching in the university of applied sciences and particularly strong pedagogical development skills. Her expertise in educational technology, knowledge management and internationalisation convinced the SeAMK’s Board of Directors that made the selection, says Jaakko Hallila, President & CEO of SeAMK.
