German Rainer Waldmann on a teacher exchange at SeAMK

Rainer Waldmann from the Deggendorf Institute of Technology (DIT) in Germany has been on a teacher exchange at SeAMK and in Finland, first time ever.

We have had the pleasure of hosting Rainer Waldmann from the Deggendorf Institute of Technology (DIT) in Germany for a teacher exchange at SeAMK, a first in Finland. The institute is one of SeAMK’s HEROES Alliance partners.

Rainer has had the opportunity to observe the “Confidence in Presentations and Interaction Situations” course, as well as conduct his own workshop titled “Team Building Across Cultures,” which is based on active learning methods. While Rainer teaches similar classes in his home country, at SeAMK he has also been introduced to a new method: drama pedagogy, under the guidance of SeAMK’s senior lecturer Noora Kivimäki.

In the workshop, Rainer has engaged students learning Finnish and other enthusiastic students in various active tasks related to teamwork and problem-solving. Rainer praises the motivation of the groups, and the students in his classes have enjoyed his lessons.

– We had fun activities together, which brought us closer and helped us get to know each other better, says a student in Rainer’s workshop.

The students feel they have learned a lot about team building through different tasks. Rainer’s classes have been fun, and they have also brought the group closer together. Time has flown by, and the active lessons have felt rewarding to the students.

Rainer has been excited to learn new things at SeAMK and to get to know colleagues in Finland. He has also greatly enjoyed the campus, particularly praising the diverse study spaces and beautiful scenery.

– The whole building here is very relaxing, and it has a nice atmosphere, very beautiful indeed, Rainer comments on Frami F building.

In addition to getting to know the beautiful campus and friendly colleagues, Rainer aims to go cross country skiing during his trip to Finland, and fortunately, recent days have been frosty and snowy.

Perhaps the cooperation between Germany and Finland will develop even further in the future. This is our hope, and we look forward to it!
