Authentication of electronic signatures

Electronic Degree Certificate

Students graduating with their degree from Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences from 2.4.2024 onwards, will receive an electronic degree certificate. Electronic degree certificate is a PDF document signed by the rector. Electronic signature embedded in the document ensures its integrity and authenticity. Electronic signature is made with a digital certificate from Digital and Population Data Services Agency and it is accepted throughout the EU.   Electronically signed degree certificates comply with highest level of qualified electronic signature set in EU regulation. If you wish, you can optionally verify the authenticity of the degree certificate using the Digital and Population Data Services Agency service.   In addition, Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences issues documents with an EU approved digital certificate, such as Transcripts of Records and Study Certificates. 

Verifying the authenticity of electronically signed documents with Atomi Validator Service

You can verify the authenticity of the electronically signed document you have received, using Atomi Validator Service. Atomi Validator is easy to use: 

  • Choose the file from your device or drag and drop it to the validator.
  • Press Validate file.
  • Wait until the validation process is done. If the signature is an electronic signature of SeAMK Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences, and the document has not been changed since the signature was added – validator will verify its authenticity.
  • Select Detailed information, and you will also see who the signature has been made by and the digital certification used.  

Electronically signed documents are only official in their digital form. Authenticity of a printed paper copy of the electronic document, or of a modified electronic document, cannot be verified with Atomi Validator Service. Digital certificate is only working in an unmodified, original PDF document.
